Bangladesh Navy emerged as champions in the 34th National Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo Championships as the four-day event concluded at the National Swimming Complex on Thursday.

Navy clinched 69 medals—35 gold, 23 silver, and 11 bronze, followed by Bangladesh Army with 60 medals—including 10 gold, 21 silver, and 29 bronze—and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan with 18 medals—four gold, five silver, and nine bronze. Bangladesh Police earned one consolation bronze medal.


A total of 20 new national records were set in the tournament, including five on the final day, across 49 events.

Navy’s Samiul Islam Rafi was adjudged as the swimmer of the championship title in the men’s division after achieving six golds and one silver, including six new national records.

Romana Akter of Army was adjudged the best woman swimmer of the championship after securing five gold and three silver medals, alongside two new national records.

Navy’s Emon Hossain was named the best diver in the men’s division with one gold and one silver, while BKSP’s Nandini Pahan was adjudged as the best diver in the women’s section with three gold medals.

On the final day, Navy’s Kajol Mia took 04:39:86 seconds to cross the 400-metre distance in the men’s individual medley event to break the previous record of 04:46:13 seconds made by Jewel Ahmed in 2022.

Kajol, who earlier made two – 200m freestyle and 200m butterfly – new records on the opening day, made another record on Thursday, clocking 04:06:44 seconds in the men’s 400m freestyle to break his previous record of 04:47:25 seconds in 2024.

BKSP’s Jui Akhter set a record in the women’s 400m individual medley event by clocking 05:37:01 seconds to cross the distance and break the previous record of 05:37:61 seconds made by Junayna Ahmed in 2019.

Navy’s Juthi Akter created record in the women’s 50m freestyle by clocking 00:28:89 seconds to break the previous record of 00:29:11 made by Nazma Khatun in 2016.

Juthi set another record with Mukta, Sonia and Rupa in the women’s 100m medley relay with 04:51:05 seconds to break previous record of 04:54:20 seconds made by Nazma, Shila, Tumpa and Lackey in 2022.
