The final round of the GAU Table Tennis Tournament 2025, organized by the GAU Sports Club in a unique initiative, was held last evening at the ground floor of the newly established Faculty of Agriculture at Gazipur Agricultural University.

The event turned into a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, filled with excitement, student energy and enthusiastic spectators.


The tournament concluded with a lively award ceremony, where Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman attended as the Chief Guest and presented awards to the winners and runners-up.

In the Women’s Singles, Mushtari Mohol Jannati won the Champion’s title, while Farzana Yeasmin became Runner-up. In the Men’s Singles, Md. Naziur Rahman was crowned Champion, with Md. Maruf Hossain Tiyal as Runner-up.

In his inspiring speech, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of sports in holistic education, stating, ‘True human development requires a balance of academic, physical and mental growth. Sports instill discipline, teach perseverance and foster teamwork. I am proud to see our students excelling both academically and athletically. GAU will continue to support co-curricular initiatives wholeheartedly.’

The final match and ceremony were presided over by Director of Student Welfare, Professor Dr.  Mohammad Sharif Raihan, with Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad and Proctor Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam present as special guests.

Also in attendance were Registrar Md. Abdullah Mridha, Director of Research Professor Dr. Md. Moshiul Islam, officials from the Physical Education Department and a large number of students.

Opening the event with a welcome speech, the Registrar remarked, ‘Sports play a vital role in students’ mental development. The creative and consistent initiatives by the GAU  Sports Club are truly commendable.’

Speaking on behalf of the winners, Md. Naziur Rahman expressed his gratitude and aspirations, stating, ‘Participating in this tournament has been a remarkable experience. We learned not only how to compete, but how to grow through teamwork, resilience and self-discipline.’

The event concluded with the President’s closing remarks, amidst an atmosphere of celebration and student enthusiasm. The GAU Sports Club affirmed its commitment to organizing even larger-scale sports events in the future, with a vision to promote university athletics at both national and international levels.
