Lalon singer Farida Parveen’s family on Wednesday refused to receive a check for Tk 10 lakh in assistance from the government for Farida’s treatment, but urged the government to ensure the proper treatment of the renowned singer.
A physician said that Farida’s condition had improved slightly on Wednesday but she was still in the intensive care unit of Universal Medical College Hospital at Mohakhali in the capital Dhaka.
Instrumentalist Gazi Abdul Hakim, husband of Farida, said that the cultural affairs secretary came to visit my ailing wife at the hospital on Wednesday and offered a check for Tk 10 lakh, but they refused to receive any financial aid from the government.
He said that they did not need any financial aid for treatment of Farida.
Farida has been under treatment at Universal Medical College Hospital since July 4 due to health complications.
‘Farida Parveen has received many awards and honour. The government should take responsibility for ensuring her proper treatment,’ Hakim said, adding that the ministry was discussing her physical condition and would form a medical board.
Earlier, her family posted on social media that they did not need any financial help and urged all to pray for her wellbeing.
‘Farida Parveen is in the intensive care unit, but her condition has slightly improved today [Wednesday],’ said Asish Chakroborty, managing director of Universal Medical College Hospital.
‘She is a patient of multi organ dysfunction. She is in critical condition having renal failure on dialysis, septicaemia, low-level of consciousness due to intracranial haemorrhage and respiratory distress,’ Asish, also a physician, said, adding that she might need ventilator anytime.
