
Politicians, academics and professionals on Friday at a commemoration meeting in Dhaka said that the early death of former Bangladesh Chhatra Federation president Ariful Islam and its central leader Souvik Karim Arjun were irreparable loss for the country.
They also said that it would be the best way to show regards to them by publishing their writings, who died in a road accident in Dhaka on November 7 in 2023.
The friends and family of them organised the meeting and a publication ceremony of the book titled Chirabandhu Arif O Arjun at the Conference Room of Institution of Engineers to mark the first anniversary of their death.
Bangladesh Garment Sramik Samhati president Taslima Akhter said that during student life, they were central leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, student front of the Ganosamhati Andolan.
Both Arif and Souvik were promising youths who were involved in various extra-curricular activities after ending their student life, Taslim Akhter mentioned.
Cultural activist Bithi Ghosh said that Souvik was fond of music and did some writings on music and film.
Executive coordinator of Ganosamhati Abul Hassan Rubel said that it would be best way to show respect to them by publishing their writings.
Expressing deep shock at the early death of Arif and Souvik, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki said that his party would work for publishing their writings.
Central leader of Ganosamhati Firoz Ahmed, friends and relatives of Arif and Souvik attended the programme, which was followed by a cultural programme.
