
The orthopaedic surgery department of Bangladesh Medical University started the indoor service patient admission at the Super Specialised Hospital of the university in Dhaka on Monday.
On the first day, two 20-year-old players of the Bangladesh National Women’s Football Team successfully completed ACL reconstruction surgery on their knees, said a press release.
A 6-member medical team led by associate professor Dr Sheikh Farhad and associate professor Dr Chowdhury Iqbal Mahmud of the department performed ACL reconstruction surgery on each patient separately through an hour-long surgery.
Assistant professor Dr Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman and Dr Md. Ali Haider of the department played an important role in the OT activities of the two players.
After the successful operation of two players, the BMU proctor and Bangladesh Football Federation Sports Medical Committee chairman Dr Sheikh Farhad said that both players were doing well after the operation and they expressed satisfaction with the quality of medical services.
Dr Sheikh Farhad also mentioned that this ACL reconstruction surgery was completed at a relatively low cost at BMU Super Specialised Hospital and the Bangladesh Football Federation would bear the financial cost of the treatment.
