Green Delta Insurance PLC completed Bangladesh’s first-ever dairy heat index insurance claim settlement recently in Mymensingh, said a press release.

Dairy heat index insurance protects dairy farmers from income loss caused by extreme temperature, which affects cattle health and milk production.

The payout is triggered when temperature and humidity cross a predefined threshold.

The claim was settled in collaboration with IBISA Network, Swiss Capacity Building Facility and Association for Peoples Development Stream.

In the aforementioned claim settlement event, 500 farmers across Chilmari, Shyamnagar and Haluaghat upazillas of Mymensingh district received timely support so that they could recover from the loss of milk production of their cattle and keep their farms running, the release said.

Green Delta impact business head Anupam Das and APDS chief executive officer Md Monerul Islam Khan were present in the event where the claim was handed over to clients.

Anupam Das said, ‘As pioneers of this innovative insurance product, we are proud to stand beside Bangladesh’s farmers in their fight against climate shocks, and the claim settlement reaffirms our unwavering commitment for supporting them.’
