Md Shamsul Alam has been elected as new member of the Sharia Supervisory Committee of Hajj Finance Company Limited.
Shamsul Alam is a professor in the Department of Islamic Studies, Dhaka University. He is currently serving as the vice-chancellor of the Islamic Arabic University on deputation.
He served as the chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies, Dhaka University in 2020-2023. During his academic career, Alam secured first place in the first class in the BA honours and MA examinations from the Islamic Studies Department of Dhaka University.
He obtained a PhD degree from the same university. He is also serving as a member of the Sharia Supervisory Committee of several banks.
In addition, his research articles on various subjects including Islamic banking and economics have been published in domestic and foreign journals.
The articles include Islamic perspective on poetry practice, endangered environment, forestry and Islam, water pollution and Islam, air pollution and Islam, the importance of mother tongue practice from the perspective of Islam, the role of Islam in building a drug-free society, etc.
