A town hall meeting was held at NRBC Bank’s Comilla Zone on Friday at a hotel in Feni, said a press release.

Chairman Md Ali Hossain Prodhania was present as chief guest.


Among others, managing director and chief executive officer Md Touhidul Alam Khan, deputy managing director and chief financial officer Harunur Rashid and Cumilla zonal head Kazi Mohammad Ziaul Karim were present.

In his speech as chief guest, Md Ali Hossain Prodhania said that the classified loans must be brought down from the current 5 per cent to zero in the Cumilla Zone comprising Cumilla, Noakhali, Chandpur and Feni.

He emphasised the need to ensure compliance with rules and regulations, transparency and accountability in banking operations.

He further stressed the importance of enhancing the quality of assets by maintaining loan discipline and implementing necessary legal procedures to improve loan recovery. He noted that it would help ensure corporate governance and compliance, while also increasing the bank’s profitability and progress in other key indicators.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of reducing fund costs by achieving targets for interest-free and low-interest deposits and emphasized increasing loan disbursement in the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise sector.

Md Touhidul Alam Khan stated that the bank had a vast network of branches and sub-branches, even in remote areas.

In Cumilla, alongside large industries, there are micro, small, and medium enterprises and the bank should enhance its overall services to develop these sectors through its branches and sub-branches, he added.
