The government has increased the price of cowhide by Tk聽5 per square feet compared to last year, setting the rate at Tk聽60-65 within Dhaka while Tk聽55-60 outside Dhaka.

Besides, the prices of goat (Khashi) and goat (Bakri) hides have been increased by Tk聽2, fixing the rate at Tk聽22-27 per square feet, while salt-applied goat hide will be sold at Tk聽20-22.


Commerce adviser SK Bashir Uddin came up with the information while speaking at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Sunday.

A minimum per-piece price for cowhide has been set at Tk聽1,350 in Dhaka and Tk聽1,150 outside the capital.

Last year, the salt-applied raw cowhide price was also Tk聽60-65 per square feet in Dhaka, but only Tk聽50-55 outside Dhaka.

Goat (Khashi) hide prices were fixed at Tk聽20-25 and Goat (Bakri) hides at Tk聽18-20 per square feet.

The minimum per-piece price for cowhide was Tk聽1,200 in Dhaka and Tk聽1,000 outside Dhaka.

A small cowhide measuring 20 square feet or a hide from a cow worth Tk聽1 lakh would fetch the minimum per-piece price under the new structure.
