Different cultural organisations and educational institutions observed the 49th anniversary of the death of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam organising different programmes on Wednesday.聽聽聽聽聽

Marking the day, Dhaka University authorities organised various programmes. The day鈥檚 programme began at 6:30am when DU vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmad Khan, along with teachers, students, officers and employees of the university, gathered at the base of Aparajeya Bangla, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.


Later, a procession marched towards the poet鈥檚 grave and floral wreaths were placed with offering special prayers.

Following this, a discussion meeting was held at an open stage beside the poet鈥檚 grave with the VC in the chair.

The Bangla Academy observed death anniversary of poet through elaborate programme.

Led by Bangla Academy director general Professor Mohammad Azam, officials and employees of the academy paid glowing tributes to the poet by placing wreath at his grave on the DU campus.

A seminar and cultural event was held at the academy鈥檚 poet Shamsur Rahman Seminar Room this afternoon.

Nazrul researcher Professor Anwarul Haque presented an article titled Nazrul鈥檚 Fundamental Conscience.

Nazrul researcher Syeda Motahera Banu and poet and essayist Kazi Nasir Mamun participated in the discussion with Mohammad Azam in the chair.

Later, artiste Tito Munshi performed a recitation at the cultural event. Nazrul songs were performed by artistes Ferdous Ara, Shahid Kabir Palash and Tanvir Alam Sajeeb.

National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Institute also paid tribute to the poet organising a discussion titled Mrityunjayee Nazrul at its auditorium.

Poet and essayist and Press Institute Bangladesh DG Faruk Wasif was present as discussant at the programme.

Beside, cultural organisation Chhayanaut paid tribute to the national poet organising a programme, which featured discussion, songs, dance recitals and others at its auditorium in Dhanmondi.
