Former national team player Mamun Ur Rashid has been named as the head coach of the Bangladesh national hockey team ahead of the Men's AHF Cup Hockey 2025 to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from April 17 to 27.

In addition to Mamun, Moshiur Rahman Biplob has been made the assistant coach, while Alamgir Islam the trainer.


The Bangladesh Hockey Federation made the decision public on Monday after completing the two-week-long selection procedure.Ìý

Mamun also guided the Bangladesh national men’s team in the Hockey World League Round-2 held in Singapore in 2015.

He also guided the Bangladesh Under-21 hockey team to glory in the Men’s Junior AHF Cup in 2014 and 2023. At club level, Mamun managed Premier Division Hockey League champions Dhaka Mariner Young’s Club for two seasons.

‘Bangladesh are four straight-time champions in Men's AHF Cup, and I will try to extend the legacy,’ Mamunur told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· in his reaction after getting the news of his appointment on Monday.

‘Biplob was one of the best hockey players of Bangladesh. He works as a coach at BKSP, while Alamgir was also a good player in premier hockey. He [Alamgir] served as coach for Usha Krira Chakra in the last premier hockey league. So I am happy to have them in my coaching team,’ he added.
