The US Embassy in Dhaka on Thursday alerted American citizens staying in the capital and other cities in Bangladesh against possible violence due to a recent increase in frequency of protests.
The United States mission in a demonstration alert said that its citizens staying in Bangladesh should practice vigilance.
‘Due to the recent increase in the frequency of protests across Bangladesh, US citizens should practice vigilance and remember that demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence, and can occur with little notice,’ said the US embassy notice available on its site.Â
It also said that the US citizens should avoid demonstrations and exercise caution in the vicinity of any large gatherings.Â
‘Review personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events and monitor local news stations for updates,’ said the notice.
