The Bangladesh Football Federation on Friday announced a 23-member squad for the SAFF Under-17 Championship 2025, which will be held at the Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh will depart for Sri Lanka today for the seven-team tournament, which is scheduled to be played from September 15 to 27.
The two-time 2015 and 2018 champions, Bangladesh, will play their three-team Group A matches against Nepal and Sri Lanka on September 18 and 21, respectively.
The four-team Group B includes Bhutan, holders and record six-time winners India, Maldives, and Pakistan.
Bangladesh, who finished runners-up in the previous edition after losing to India 2-0 in the final in Bhutan, will go into the competition to become champions.
‘This time our target is to become the champions. We had a good preparation, and we have good ideas about the strengths and weaknesses of our opponent teams,’ said Choton in the pre-tour press conference at the BFF house on Friday.
‘We bear the pain of losing the previous edition final. This time we are going not only to play the semifinal or final, but also to win the title,’ said captain Nazmul Huda Faysal.
After the group stages, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on 25 September, with the final scheduled for 27 September.
Golam Rabbani Choton’s side had one and a half months of training at the Shams-Ul-Huda Football Academy in Jashore to prepare for the 10th edition of this tournament.
