Politicians, academics and professionals at a discussion meeting in Dhaka on Monday urged the government to introduce a productive education system that students could use for the country’s productive development.
Ganosamhati Andolan organised the discussion meeting at the National Press Club titled ‘Education system for democratic transition of the country after reforms’ where its chief coordinator Zonayed Saki chaired.
Zonayed Saki said that after reforms, the democratic government must take responsibility of educational expenses of the country and education up to Class XII should be free.
Former Dhaka University teacher and economist Mahbub Ullah said that we must introduce improved education from the primary level, as this is where students’ basic education begins.
‘If education at the primary level is improved, we can hope for improved education in higher levels,’ Mahbub Ullah added.
Jahangirnagar University teacher Rezwana Karim Snigdha stated that a better and democratic political environment in the country would lead to improved education.
Executive coordinator of Ganosamhati, Abul Hassan Rubel, said that they were continuing the discussion meeting on different issues before including those issues in their party’s election manifesto.
