
The two-day ActionAid-DUDS Inter-University Debate Festival began, bringing together young minds from various institutions to engage in critical discussions, at the University of Dhaka on Friday.
Professor Mamun Ahmed, DU pro-vice-chancellor, academic, inaugurated the event as chief guest.
Dhaka University Debating Society organised the event with the collaboration of ActionAid Bangladesh.
The two-day festival began today at the university’s Teacher-Student Centre auditorium under the theme ‘proposing policies for social inclusivity’.
Presided over by DUDS president Jubayer Hossain, chief moderator of DUUDS Professor SM Shamim Reza and senior officer at the advocacy and campaigning department of ActionAid Bangladesh Johra Binte Zaman Boni attended the the inaugural ceremony as special guests.
Professor Mamun Ahmed thanked DUDS for organising the festival, saying, ‘Debate is important for fostering confidence and skill among students. Such activities would significantly contribute to students’ future professional success.’
Twenty-four teams from various universities and 12 teams from different schools and colleges are participating in this year’s festival.
