The finance department of Dhaka University celebrated its golden jubilee with a day-long programme on the DU campus on Saturday. 

On the occasion, a gathering, commemoration, award ceremony, discussion meeting, cultural programme and concert were organised at the central playground of the university, said a press release.


DU vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as chief guest at the programme, which was presided over by the chairman of the department, Professor HM Mosharraf Hossain.

Governor of Bangladesh Bank Ahsan H Mansur spoke as guest of honour, while dean of the faculty of business studies Professor Mahmud Osman Imam, founding teachers of the department Professor AHM Habibur Rahman and Professor Jamal Uddin Ahmed were present as special guests at the programme, which was conducted by Professor Shabnaz Amin and assistant professor Kazi Golam Rabbani Maula.

Congratulating the teachers, students and alumni of the department on the occasion of its golden jubilee, Niaz Ahmed Khan said that the department had contributed a lot to the socio-economic development of the country. ‘The teachers and students of the department are leading various institutions with pride.’

He also called on the alumni to play an effective role in the overall development of the university.
