Barishal were crowned champions of the Women鈥檚 National Cricket League T20 after defeating Rangpur by 13 runs in their last and final league match at the BKSP Ground-3 in Savar on Monday.

Farzana Haque starred with a half-century to help Barishal post 137-3 in 20 overs, while the bowlers restricted Rangpur to 124-9 in the allotted overs after a disciplined bowling effort.

Barishal secured 12 points with six wins in seven matches to finish at the top of the table in the eight-team tournament.

Following them, Khulna placed second with 10 points, and Chattogram, with the same points but a lower run-rate, took third place, while Rangpur finished fourth with eight points.

Opting to bat first, openers Farzana and Sumi Akter (47 off 45) laid a solid foundation with a 78-run partnership for Barishal.

Sumi missed out on her fifty by three runs as Farzana 51 off 52 balls with five boundaries and two sixes, guided their team to a respectable total.

Chasing the target, Rangpur faltered early, but Nepa Akter鈥檚 31, along with late contributions from Lucky Khatun (32) and Tomalika Sumona (24), kept them in contention, though the bowlers ensured Barishal鈥檚 victory.

Happy Alam (2-22), Rabeya Khan (2-18), and Fatema Akter (2-21) each claimed two wickets for Barishal.

Khulna emerged victorious in a low-scoring match against Dhaka by six wickets at the BKSP Ground-4 in Savar.
