Gamini Silva on Saturday ended his association with the Bangladesh Cricket Board as a national curator after 16 years of service.
Gamini Silva received an emotional farewell by the curators and ground staff at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
In a separate ceremony attended by BCB directors, grounds & facilities committee officials, and BCB staff, Silva was thanked for his dedicated service and contribution to Bangladesh cricket.
The 65-year-old curator, a former Sri Lankan first-class cricketer and ICC international panel umpire, joined the BCB in 2009 and has overseen 32 Tests, 106 ODIs, and 68 T20 internationals.
Throughout his tenure with Bangladesh cricket, he supervised the 2011 ICC Men鈥檚 Cricket World Cup, 2014 ICC World T20, 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup, three Asia Cups, and 11 Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournaments.
As a replacement, BCB appointed Australian turf management expert Tony Hemming as head of the department, who has overseen Mirpur鈥檚 wickets in the recent home series against the West Indies.
