Dr Sarder A Nayeem

The pioneer laparoscopic surgeon of Bangladesh and the chairman of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, Professor Dr Sarder A Nayeem, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Endodontic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia.

ELSA awarded Professor Nayeem for his exceptional and outstanding contributions in the field of laparoscopy surgery in Bangladesh and Asia-Pacific during the 21st World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery held in Singapore from November 5 to 8, according to a press release issued on Saturday.


This prestigious honour is a well-deserved recognition of his decades of dedication, leadership and pioneering efforts to inspire surgeons of Bangladesh and around the world, it added.

He has trained more than 500 surgeons in laparoscopic surgery in different specialties in Bangladesh and established laparoscopic surgery in this part of the world.

Professor Nayeem is also the chairman of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Retirement Homes, a retirement home with need-based medical care for senior citizens.

ELSA, a non-profit organisation, is a major regional representative for endoscopic surgeons in the Asia-Pacific.
