Bangladesh T20I captain Liton Das on Sunday stated that no one would refuse the Test captaincy if that’s proposed to him by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.Â
The talk about choosing the next Test captain has recently got some attention as the two-Test series against Ireland is incoming.Â
The post has been vacant since Najmul Hossain Shanto stepped down from the role after the series against Sri Lanka in June.Â
BCB president Aminul Islam has recently hinted that they would not necessarily consider different captains for different formats.Â
That brought Liton, who’s been handling the T20I captaincy since May, into the contention for the role.Â
‘Very difficult, as I haven’t known anything about this yet,’ Liton, who has played 50 Tests so far, said when he was asked whether he’d consider the role.Â
‘If the bosses thought that I’d be capable of it, then they’d certainly have a conversation with me. Let’s see what the decision will be only after that,’ he added.Â
However, Liton also said that Test captaincy was something that anyone hardly would pass on.Â
‘But of course, when you play, Test captaincy is a big achievement. I don’t think anyone would refuse. But they haven’t proposed it to me yet.’
