Rangpur secured a thrilling three-wicket victory over Dhaka Metro in a low-scoring match of the ongoing National Cricket League T20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, outer ground on Monday.

Rangpur restricted Metro to 90-8 in 20 overs after electing to bowl first, and then reached 93-7 in 11 overs, thanks to Jahid Javed鈥檚 all-round brilliance.

Last match鈥檚 centurion Shadman Islam was dismissed for just 10, followed by another opener Mahfijul Islam, who scored 20 off 23 balls.

Metro lost their rhythm and never recovered as their batters failed to hold on to their wickets and eventually lost wickets rapidly before reaching the 100-run mark.

Tahjibul Islam made 13, while Rakibul Hasan and Shohidul Islam remained unbeaten on 14 and 11 runs, respectively.

Javed took two wickets for just eight runs in his four overs, along with Rafi Uzzaman (2-19) and Abu Hasim (2-17), who also took two wickets each.

Rangpur also faced a tough challenge while chasing a meagre total, as they lost opener Anik Sarker (three) early, while veteran Nasir Hossain made 11 off seven.

Jahid top-scored with 26 off 22 featuring three boundaries to reprieve Rangpur. Abdullah Mamun (16) and Akbar Ali (17) also played brief knocks, and Hasim (5*) ensured their third win from six matches.

Rakibul (2-31) took two wickets, but his effort went into vain, while others picked up one wicket each for Metro.聽
