Bangladesh T20I captain Liton Das on Tuesday apologised to the fans of the country following their performance in the recently concluded Asia Cup.

Bangladesh failed to reach the final after they lost to Pakistan by 11 runs in their last match of the Super Four after a dismal batting performance, as they couldn’t chase 135 runs.

‘We gave our best as a team in the Asia Cup 2025. Our ultimate goal was to reach the final and win it, but unfortunately, we couldn’t achieve that,’ Liton wrote in a post on his official Facebook page.

‘As a team, we sincerely apologise to all the passionate supporters of Bangladesh,’ he added.

Liton missed the last two games of the Super Four stage against India and Pakistan due to injury. Bangladesh lost both the matches.

Liton will continue to be out of action, as he hasn’t been named in the squad to face Afghanistan in the upcoming series starting on October 2.

The wicketkeeper-batter said that it was heartbreaking for him.

‘On a personal note, missing the last two games due to injury was heartbreaking. I also won’t be able to take part in the upcoming Afghanistan series because of the same reason. I tried my best to recover, but couldn’t — and this will hurt me for a long time,’ he said.

However, Liton also thanked the fans for their continuous support.

He said, ‘Finally, a big thank you to each and every one of you for the overwhelming support throughout the tournament. As athletes, we are truly privileged to have the best supporters in the world. Hopefully, we’ll be able to give back what you truly deserve very soon.’
