Pacer Alauddin Babu registered NCL T20s maiden five-for as Rangpur beat Barishal by six wickets at the Sylhet International Stadium outer ground on Monday.
Barishal managed just 106 in 19.3 overs, with Alauddin claiming 5-16. In reply, Rangpur cruised to 109-4 in 13.3 overs.
Barishal, after being sent into bat first, had a tough time in the beginning as they lost two wickets for 32 runs in the seventh over.
However, Fazle Mahmud Rabbi and Zahiduzzaman Khan tried to steady the ship but couldn鈥檛 prevent the collapse.
They lost three wickets for just five runs and were reduced to 58-5 in a space of nine balls. Alauddin hadn鈥檛 come to bowl at that point, as Nasir Hossain, Mushfik Hasan, Abu Hasim, and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain shared the first five wickets.
Alauddin took the last five wickets to fold their innings, as Barishal could add just 48 runs more.
Zahiduzzaman remained unbeaten on 22 after Fazle scored 27 runs for Barishal.
Rangpur lost Tanbir Hayder (four) and Abdullah Al Mamun (24) early in the innings, but Anik Sarker led their chase, scoring 54 runs off 35 balls, hitting three fours and five sixes.
Tanvir Islam took 3-27, including a maiden.
In the afternoon match, Mominul Haque and Shahadat Hossain starred with the bat, while Md Rubel starred with the ball to help Chattogram beat Rajshahi by 30 runs at the same venue.
Chattogram managed 155-6 in 20 overs after Mominul and Shahadat each scored 45 runs off 37 and 33 balls, respectively. Rubel then took 3-24 runs to restrict Rajshahi to 125-8 in 20 overs.
After losing Mahmudul Hasan early in the innings, Mominul and Shahadat added 85 runs for the second wicket before falling in consecutive overs. Mominul struck six fours, while Shahadat smashed four fours and two sixes.
SM Meherob Hasan and Asaduzzaman Payel each took two wickets for Rajshahi.
Rajshahi made a shaky start, as they lost opener Habibur Rahman in the first over, but Najmul Hossain Shanto鈥檚 (21) wicket in the eighth over triggered a collapse in their innings from which they never recovered. Pritom Kumar top scored with 22 runs.
Hasan Mahmud, Nayeem Hasan, and Mehedi Hasan Rana each took a wicket, while Rubel was adjudged as player of the match.
