Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam Bulbul on Monday urged everyone to protect country鈥檚 cricket from fixing for its survival. He also cautioned that no new player would emerge until that was done.

鈥業 have a humble request to you all鈥攖hose who will be associated with this game鈥攑lease, protect this game,鈥 Aminul said during the launching ceremony of the forthcoming NCL T20 at a city hotel in Dhaka.

鈥楾his game is our responsibility. By protecting, I mean, how we can keep it clean. How we can avoid the fixing. We have to be careful about that.

聽鈥業f we want to let cricket survive, then we have got to make a promise that no one can make any claim that there would be any doubt with any of the matches,鈥 he added.

Recently the BCB announced that they would form a committee to review the summary of the investigation committee that was formed in light of claims of corruption in the last editions of the Bangladesh Premier League.

Aminul said that the review committee would be formed so that they could take action. He also reminded that there was no scope for making a mistake, as the matter was highly 鈥榣egal鈥.

鈥楾here is nothing like doubt here. Nothing can be said until concrete evidence and concrete interviews are found. And I am no expert. The committee we have formed will submit another report. We can go to action on the basis of that,鈥 Aminul told reporters after the programme.

鈥楽o many legal matters are involved that there is no chance of making a mistake. But we are taking some steps to protect the game, as you have also shown your interest in doing that.鈥

The former national team captain also mentioned that they were taking steps to educate the players and the relevant parties.

鈥榃e can control the players, the match officials, and the groundsmen. We are arranging true training for them. They will have to sign after the training, and only after that will we let them participate,鈥 he said.

Aminul also denied that they would impose any 鈥榮ilent ban鈥 on any players or officials, as it was reported in the media earlier.

鈥楾here is no term as 鈥渟ilent ban鈥. As I have said before, we have got some evidence, some reports, and some outcomes of our investigation. But we are in the middle of the process of taking action,鈥 he said.

鈥業 cannot say anything specific. There is a legal team who takes action. But we don鈥檛 want to make any mistakes. Every person has some values and prestige of their own,鈥 he added.

The BCB boss then requested everybody to take responsibility.

鈥榃e want to take proper steps. We request you to also take responsibility to protect this game. Until we can bring fair cricket, we won鈥檛 be able to bring players,鈥 he said.

鈥榃e won鈥檛 be able to increase competition. This is our number one priority 鈥 to protect the game as beautifully as we can.鈥

The NCL T20, which was revived last year, will begin on September 14 in two venues鈥擱ajshahi and Bogura. The eight-team tournament will then move on to Sylhet for its final phase.
