The non-payment issue in the domestic league is gripping the country’s cricket again, as several players from the Brothers Union of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League gathered at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.

They were supposed to hold a press conference regarding the issue but later postponed it after receiving a phone call from the club.

‘We came here to do a press conference,’ said one of the seven players present.

‘But upon our arrival, the club called us, saying they needed one more week. From our perspective, if they are asking for seven days, we have to give them that time,’ he added.

‘We could have gone ahead with the press conference, but since they made this request… if they hadn’t, we would have continued with our plan,’ he further said.

The players of the club, who only survived after playing in the relegation league last season, have reportedly been waiting for months to receive their payments.

They also hinted that if the club failed to clear the payment within the promised timeframe, they would go ahead with further action.

It’s not the first time that Brothers players have gone to the BCB over this kind of issue.
