The Bangladesh bowlers, led by record-breaking Mustafizur Rahman, dismantled Pakistan in the first of the three-match T20I series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
Pakistan were folded for just 110 runs in 19.3 overs, which was the first time Bangladesh bowled them out in a T20I innings. This was also Pakistan鈥檚 lowest total against Bangladesh.
Following their impressive performance in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh鈥檚 bowlers made a triumphant return home.
Mustafiz registered a miserly bowling figure of two for six from his four overs. Taskin Ahmed took three for 22.
The wicket of Mirpur was always supposed to be difficult for the batters, and so it proved.
An all-round bowling attack of the host also was spot on for almost the entire innings.
Fakhar Zaman, who survived on multiple occasions, went on to score 44 off 34 and was the only batter who seemed to be comfortable against them.
After Taskin got the first breakthrough in his first over, Bangladesh bowlers were all over the visitors.
Pakistan tried to attack despite losing four wickets in the powerplay.
Mahedi Hasan, the star of the series decider against Sri Lanka, was the most expensive, as he conceded 37 runs from his four overs. Apart from the off spinner, all were below seven.
Bangladesh bowler tightened the screw in terms of giving away runs, as the middle overs just yielded 62 runs. At one phase, there were 31 deliveries without a boundary being hit.
Left-arm pacer Mustafiz was almost unplayable as he gave away just 1.50 runs per over.
This was the lowest run conceded by a Bangladeshi bowler where at least four overs were bowled.
Previously, the record of seven runs from four overs was jointly held by Mustafiz, Tanzim Hasan, and Rishad Hossain.
This was also the fourth time Mustafiz conceded less than 10 runs in a T20I innings, which is the highest by a bowler from a full-member nation.
Taskin then finished things off with a three-wicket over, though one of those was run out.
Interestingly, there were as many as three run-outs in the Pakistan innings, which mounted the pressure more.
But it was the bowling on their home turf, where Bangladesh shone brightly.
They laid the perfect foundation to end the winless run for Bangladesh against Pakistan.
