Metro rail services in the capital Dhaka were closed for about half an hour after a bag was found on the line in the Motijheel area on Tuesday afternoon.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited deputy project director (public relations) Md Ahsan Ullah Sharifi said that the bag was found on the metro rail tracks at a place between Motijheel and Bangladesh Secretariat stations.

To remove the bag, he said, train services were suspended between 3:44pm and 4:04pm on Tuesday.

Earlier, on November 22, metro rail services were closed for 10 minutes after a drone fell on the line in the Uttara area.

The services of the country鈥檚 first 20.1-kilometre metro rail system were inaugurated on December 28, 2022 on the Uttara-Agargaon section. The services later were extended up to Motijheel.聽
