A Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader was assaulted inside the Narsingdi Judge Court premises while appearing for a hearing in an earlier case on Thursday afternoon.

The victim, Siam Bhuiyan Abir, 28, is the joint convener of Chhatra Dal in Ghorashal Municipality and son of Emran Mia of Darihaolapara in Palash Upazila.


Emran Mia, father of the injured, said that his son Siam appeared before the court for a hearing in a mugging case filed last December in Paiksa area of ​​Ghorashal.

When he exited the courtroom, a group of unidentified assailants attacked him with iron pipes, beating him indiscriminately, he said. Locals rescued and took him to the district hospital, Emran added.

Siam received four stitches on his head and sustained multiple injuries across his body, medical sources said.

Sairul Islam, Police Inspector of Narsingdi Court, said that a rival group ambushed Siam near Gate No. 3 of the Judge court and assaulted him, leaving him injured.
