The Election Commission of Bangladesh has officially published the final voter list ahead of the upcoming 13th national election.

According to the final voter list, there are now a total of 12,76,95,183 registered voters in the country. Of these, 6,48,14,907 are male voters, 6,28,79,042 are female voters, and 1,234 belong to the third gender (Hijra).

At a press briefing on Tuesday at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka, Akhtar Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, released the final list.

He explained that the voter list had been updated to include all individuals who turned 18 years old by October 31. According to Akhtar Ahmed, the growth rate of male voters is 2.29%, while female voters saw a growth rate of 4.16%. This increase is compared to the final voter list published on March 2.

In response to a question, the EC secretary attributed the rise in voter numbers to ongoing door-to-door registration drives and awareness campaigns aimed at motivating people to register.

The final list follows the publication of the draft voter list on November 2, which had recorded a total of 12,76,12,384 voters. The draft list included 6,44,76,382 male voters, 6,28,50,772 female voters, and 1,230 third-gender (Hijra) voters.

Earlier, the supplementary voter list published on August 31 showed a total of 12,63,09,504 voters in the country. As of March 2 this year, the total number of voters was 12,37,32,274. A supplementary draft voter list, published on August 10, incorporated those who had registered by June 30.
