An auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly beaten to death at Bijoynagar in Brahmanbaria on Friday noon.
The deceased was identified Delowar Hossain, 40, husband of village police member Kajal Begum, and a resident of Chandpur village under Paharpur union.
The incident occurred as an auto-rickshaw hit a motorcycle at Awalia Bazar in Bijoynagar.
According to local residents, Delowar鈥檚 auto-rickshaw hit Billal Miah鈥檚 motorcycle at about 12:30pm, which was parked in front of Billal鈥檚 confectionery shop.
Following the collision, Billal allegedly beat Delowar mercilessly with a stick.
Local people took Delowar to Bijoyanagar Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Confirming the incident, Bijoynagar police station officer-in-charge Shahidul Islam said that no case had been filed in this regard as of filing this report at about 7:20pm.
