Gono Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque Nur on Friday said that the uncertainty surrounding the next national parliamentary election had dissipated following the chief adviser’s address to the nation.

‘The chief adviser gave due importance to everyone’s opinions in implementing the July Charter,’ he said while reacting to Professor Yunus’ speech at the party’s central office in Bijoynagar of Dhaka.

Mentioning that the interim government is on the right track regarding the next election, Nur said that divisions among political parties could thwart the polls. ‘In the current circumstances, holding the election and the referendum on the same day is realistic.’

He urged all political parties to remain united regarding the February election.

On the future political landscape, Nur announced that his party would campaign in support of the July Charter.

‘This support is necessary for the legitimacy of the mass uprising and the construction of a new Bangladesh.’

In preparation for the next polls, Gono Odhikar Parishad declared that it plans to field candidates in all 300 constituencies.
