A specialised fish hospital—Fish Square Fisheries Hospital—was inaugurated in Dumuria of Khulna Friday afternoon, to provide treatment and advice for fish diseases and aquaculture issues.

Professor Md Shah Alam Sarkar, a teacher of Bangladesh Open University, inaugurated the hospital at Rudaghra Bot Tala intersection.


The hospital will offer completely free services and consultations for fish farmers, aiming to address problems ranging from fish diseases to general aquaculture concerns.

Speaking at the event, Professor Sarkar said, ‘Just as humans need doctors when they are unwell, establishing a hospital to treat fish or provide expert advice is an innovative initiative. Local farmers and fish cultivators across Bangladesh will greatly benefit from the free guidance offered here.’

He praised Abdus Salam Biswas, the founder of the hospital, for the initiative. After the inauguration,

he the Fish Square Hatchery and later held discussions with local fish farmers at Rudaghra Fisheries Farmers’ School.

Other attendees included Khulna youth development senior trainer Md Surat Ali, and Fish Square marketing and sales officer Md Yasin Biswas, among others.
