Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Chairman Major General (Retired) Md Azizul Islam announced his resignation on Sunday, citing allegations of syndicates and various interferences.
He made the announcement at a press briefing held at the organisation’s national headquarters at Moghbazar.
The chairman said, ‘I have tried in various ways to revamp the Red Crescent Society but due to the syndicate and various forms of interference, I cannot continue to work and this is why I am announcing my resignation from the post of chairman.’
Md Azizul Islam was appointed as the new chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in March this year.
Board members of the Red Crescent Society, Air Commodore Shahe Alam, doctor Sheikh Zafar and professor Imran Bin Yusuf were also present at the event.
