Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh Professor SMA Faiz at a programme in Dhaka on Sunday said that the youth must continue to play a leading role in fulfilling the people’s expectation and building society as people’s trust and expectations towards youths had increased due to the leadership in the July uprising.

He said this as chief guest at the inauguration of the programme titled Social and Mental Health Protection for university students at the auditorium of the Teachers-Students Centre at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, said a press release.


He said, ‘The nation’s expectations on you have increased. Therefore, you must move forward in building a society with courage, keeping the spirit of July in mind.’

He also expressed hope to advance education and research activities by ensuring a suitable environment for education in 170 universities of the country through teamwork with the help of students.

UGC members Professor Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Professor Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Professor Masuma Habib, Professor Mohammad Ayub Islam, SAU vice-chancellor Professor Md Abdul Latif and Jagannath University vice-chancellor Professor Rezaul Karim were present as special guests at the event.

UGC international collaboration division director Jesmin Pervin presided over the event.
