Attorney general Md Asaduzzaman on Wednesday said that he would contest the upcoming national election from Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa) constituency after stepping down from his post.
‘I seek nomination from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party for Jhenaidah-1. I am still serving as attorney general but will resign when the time comes,’ he told reporters after a court hearing.
He made the remarks following his arguments before the Appellate Division, led by chief justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, on restoring the non-party caretaker government system.
The court adjourned the hearing until Thursday morning.
