Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology staged demonstrations from 9:00pm till midnight on Tuesday, demanding the expulsion and punishment of a fellow student over the allegation of raping a female student.
Following the protesters鈥� demand, the accused student was temporarily expelled from the university the same night, while the university authorities also decided to file a case against him.
Later that night, BUET director of students鈥� welfare Professor AKM Masud told the protesting students that the authorities had issued a suspension order in response to their demands.
The alleged student, Sreeshanto Roy, is a 2021 batch student of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
