A bilateral meeting was held between the director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations Qu Dongyu and agriculture adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy on Friday.

At the beginning of the meeting, the adviser expressed his appreciation to the FAO director-general for organising significant global events such as the World Food Forum 2025and for inviting Bangladesh to participate in several dialogues and sessions, said a press release on Saturday.


He also thanked FAO for its continued support in advancing Bangladesh鈥檚 agricultural sector.

During the discussion, the adviser has drawn the director-general鈥檚 attention to areas where Bangladesh seeks further collaboration, particularly in agricultural research for food security, export-oriented agricultural production and marketing and digital agriculture.

Qu Dongyu expressed his commitment to strengthening FAO鈥檚 partnership with Bangladesh and working more closely in the days ahead.

The meeting was attended by Md Emdad Ullah Mian, Ministry of Agriculture secretary, and other members of both delegations.
