Two children died after falling into an open septic tank at Dhamrai, on the outskirts of the capital, on Friday.
The victims are Rahim, 5, and Yasin, 3, who were cousins, at Chhoto Chandrail of Dhamrai municipality, police officers said.
According to relatives and neighbours, the two boys went out to play together after lunch but did not return home as till evening.
Worried family members began searching for them and reviewed nearby CCTV footage, which confirmed that the boys had not gone far from home.
At about 10:30pm, local people found the bodies inside a nearby building鈥檚 uncovered septic tank.
鈥業t appears the children accidentally fell into the open tank while playing鈥�, officer in-charge of Dhamrai police station Monirul Islam said.
Police visited the scene Friday evening and said they were discussing the next legal steps with the families as they refused to proceed with post mortem examination.
Earlier, on October 5, a pedestrian died and five were injured amid an explosion of a septic tank at Ashulia.
