Renowned detective novel author Rakib Hasan passed away on Wednesday afternoon at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. He was 75.

His son, Rahid Hasan, confirmed that Rakib Hasan, who had been battling kidney issues, died while undergoing dialysis at around 1:30pm.


‘We want to lay my father to rest at Shahjahanpur Graveyard after the Isha prayers tonight,’ Rahid Hasan added.

Rakib Hasan was born on December 12, 1950, in Cumilla. He began his writing career with Sheba Prokashoni, translating world-famous classic novels.

Over his prolific career, he authored more than 400 books, including the popular Tin Goyenda series, which was inspired by Robert Arthur’s The Three Investigators.

This series made him a favourite among young readers, securing his place as one of the most popular writers for teens in the country.
