
The prime accused in the killing of a female Village Police member in Sirajganj on Monday confessed to the crime in a court.
Prime accused in a murder case Tapas Kumar Das told the court that he strangled female village cop Anna Rani Das, 37, when she had rebuffed his sexual advances.
The police arrested Tapas, a resident of Bhormohini Daspara village, on Sunday night from his home on charges of murdering Anna Rani in Salanga in Ullapara upazila of the district.
He gave the confessional statement before the Sirajganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Court under Section 164, admitting his crime.
In the morning on October 11, the police recovered Anna Rani鈥檚 body from the bank of a pond beside Islamia High School in Salanga.
Following the incident, her daughter, Dhrupadi Das, filed a murder case with the Salanga police against unidentified persons.
According to the investigation officer, Anna Rani went out for a morning walk when Tapas made an indecent proposal to her.
As she refused, he swooped on her and strangled her to death.
The police identified the accused after reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby school.
