The Bangladesh Coast Guard has increased patrolling and surveillance in riverside and coastal areas in the country on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq in a press release on Monday said that since its establishment, the Bangladesh Coast Guard had been playing an important role in maintaining overall law and order in the coastal area.


The Coast Guard has been providing security to followers of various religions, protecting religious places of worship, important establishments and the lives and property of the people of the country.

As per the government’s instructions, the Coast Guard is working on the overall security of religious places of worship and puja mandaps on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Among the coastal areas, the Coast Guard is responsible for the overall security of 43 temples and puja mandap in Dhaka zone, 56 in Chattogram zone,, 45 in Mongla zone and 80 in Bhola zone.

Keeping in view the Durga Puja, the Coast Guard is ready to protect the lives and property of the people and places of worship from any kind of sabotage and to deal with any kind of unpleasant situation.

In addition, special patrols and necessary assistance are being provided in the rivers and riverside areas to facilitate the movement of devotees coming to the puja mandap.
