The Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited inaugurated the drilling of the Srikail-5 appraisal-cum-development well on Sunday.
Inaugurated by managing director of BAPEX engineer Md Fazlul Haque, the event was attended by general manager of BAPEX’s drilling and engineering division along with senior officials from other relevant division, said a press release.
Srikail-5 is under the project ‘Drilling of 2 appraisal-cum-development wells, Sundalpur-4 and Srikail-5, and 2 exploration wells, Sundalpur South-1 and Jamalpur-1’.
The Srikail-5 Well, located at Srikail under Muradnagar in Cumilla under Block 9, is targeted to reach a depth of 3,450 metres.
The well is estimated to contain an initial gas-in-place of 62.87BCF, with a recoverable reserve of 50.30BCF.
The drilling operation of the well is being entirely with BAPEX’s own rig and manpower.
