
At least five people were killed and several others injured on Sunday in separate road accidents in Habiganj, Gopalganj, Chattogram, Feni and Madaripur districts in the country.
抖阴精品 Staff Correspondent from Sylhet reported that a motorcyclist was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles at Chunarughat upazila in Habiganj on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased SM Mizanul Haque, 40, was an electrician of Baniachang Upazila Health Complex in the district and son of SM Mehraj Miah of Jatukarnapara at the Baniachang upazila, police said.
Chunarughat police station sub-inspector Akhter Hossain confirmed the death of Mizanul to 抖阴精品.
He said that two motorcycles collided head-on on Puratan Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Deworgachh area under the Chunarughat upazila at around 1:00pm, leaving the drivers of the both motorcycles and their two pillion riders injured.
The police office said that the locals took the injured to the Chunarughat Upazila Health Complex after rescuing them from the spot but the attending doctor of the health complex declared Mizanul dead on arrival.
Our Feni correspondent reported that Istiaq Ahmed, 27, was killed after being hit by a speeding bus while walking to attend a friend鈥檚 grandmother鈥檚 funeral in the Gobindapur Bottola area of Sadar upazila.
The victim was the younger son of Kabir Ahmed, a primary school head teacher in Gobindapur village under Kalidah union.
Istiaq had recently completed his post-graduation from Feni Government College and was preparing for job recruitment exams.
Feni Model Police Station officer-in-charge Md Samsuzzaman said Istiaq was hit by a bus that fled the scene. Locals took him to Feni 250-bed General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Emergency medical officer Md Raihan Uddin said the youth suffered a fatal head injury.
In Gopalganj, Suken Bar, 30, a van driver, was killed when a bus ran over him on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in the morning, according to a Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha report.
Bhatiapara Highway Police Station OC Md Maksudur Rahman said the victim was crossing the highway when the accident took place. He was declared dead at Kashiani Upazila Health Complex and later handed over to his family.
In Chattogram, Selim Fakir, 28, driver of an iron rod-laden truck, was killed on the spot when his vehicle hit another truck on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Kadamrasul area around 5:00am.
His assistant Rakib was injured and admitted to a local hospital, Bar Aulia Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Md Abdul Momin confirmed.
In another incident in Madaripur, Nasima Begum, 35, was killed and two others injured when a microbus rammed into an easy-bike on the Dhaka-Barishal highway at Karnapara area of Dasar upazila in the afternoon, according to BSS report.
Dasar police officer-in-charge Sheikh Mohammad Ehteshamul Islam said the victims were taken to Madaripur 250-bed General Hospital, where Nasima was declared dead.
