
Today is the third death anniversary of former election commissioner, freedom fighter and writer Mahbub Talukdar.
On this occasion, special prayers will be offered by Pir Saheb of Narinda in Dhaka on behalf of his family, and food will be distributed for children at the Pir鈥檚 orphanage, said a press release.
To commemorate the occasion, a prayer session will also be organised at his younger daughter鈥檚 home in New York.
Mahbub Talukdar passed away on August 24, 2022.
In 2017, he was recommended by a Search Committee headed by a Supreme Court Judge and the president appointed him as an election commissioner along with three other election commissioners and the chief election commissioner.
Talukdar made headlines during his five-year term as election commissioner due to his protest against various decisions of the KM Nurul Huda-led Election Commission.
