The bodies of four people, including a child, were recovered from different places in the River Buriganga in Keraniganj on Saturday.

The deceased include a three-year-old boy, two women and a man. None of the victims have been identified yet.


Keraniganj's Barishur Naval police outpost sub-inspector Md Moktar Hossain said that the bodies of a man and a woman were recovered near Madaripur Jame Mosque at Jinjira Union in Keraniganj at about 7:30pm.

‘Their hands were tied up together with a rope. They had injury marks in their bodies.,’ he said.

South Keraniganj police station officer-in-charge Syed Md Akhtar Hossain said that a 30-year-old woman was found floating near Mirerbagh Cold Storage area in Keraniganj at about 12:00pm on Saturday.

She was wearing a pink salwar-kameez and had a black burqa wrapped around her neck, he said.

‘Around an hour later, the body of a three-year-old boy was found nearby. His neck was wrapped in a scarf,’ the OC said.

All the bodies were sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
