
The government on Sunday sent nine police inspectors (unarmed), who served as officers-in-charge at various police stations during the Awami League regime, into compulsory retirement.
Separate gazette notifications were issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard on the day.
The officers are Md Kamal Hossain, inspector (unarmed) of Jamuna Bridge East River Police Outpost; Nurul Islam, inspector of Criminal Investigation Department in Moulvibazar; Abu Bakar Siddiq, inspector of Tangail鈥檚 Madhupur Circle Office; Mamunur Rashid, inspector of Tourist Police in Munshiganj and Padma Bridge Zone; SM Kamruzzaman, inspector of Narayanganj District Reserve Office; Abdul Kuddus Fakir, inspector of CID in Narshingdi; Shikdar Md Shamim Hossain, inspector of Bogura鈥檚 Armed Police Battalion-4; Abdul Latif, inspector of CID Control Room, and Md Selimuzzaman, inspector of Kulaura Railway Police Station.
The nine officers have been sent to retirement under the provisions of Section 45 of the Government Service Act that states that after completing 25 years of service, the government may, at any time and in the public interest, send to retirement a government employee without showing any cause.
According to the notifications, the officers have been sent to retirement in the public interest.
They will receive retirement benefits, the notifications say, adding that the order will take effect immediately.
