
The interim government has revoked Bangladesh Police Medal, BPM in short, and President Police Medal, PPM in short, of 40 fugitive police officials, as they remain absconded from their work stations.
The revocation of the medals will apply to officers, including Dhaka Metropolitan Police additional commissioner Harun-or-Rashid and suspended additional deputy inspector general Biplob Kumar Sarkar,
The decision came as part of the departmental proceedings for remaining fugitives, hiding away from workplace, according to a gazette issued on August 7 by the Public Security Division under the home ministry.
The gazette, however, was made available on the Public Security Division website on August 10.
The other officials include DIG on special duty Syed Nurul Islam, DIG officer on special duty Nure Alam Mina and suspended additional deputy inspector general of police Proloy Kumar Joarder.
Those whose awards have been revoked through the government measure are from the ranks of DIG, additional DIG, superintendent of police, additional superintendent of police, and inspector.
The 40 officials have gone into hiding since August 5 past year when the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League regime was brought down by a student-led mass uprising. 聽
