Axentec PLC, a subsidiary of Robi Axiata PLC, has signed a feasibility study agreement with the Chittagong Port Authority to provide smart port services through automation.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the CPA and Axentec PLC in this regard, said a press release on Sunday.


The chief guest at the ceremony was Bangladesh Investment Development Authority executive chairman, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun.

 CPA chairman Rear Admiral M Muniruzzaman and Axentec managing director and CEO Adil Hossain Noble signed the agreement on behalf of both the organisations at the CPA office.

Under the agreement, Axentec will conduct feasibility study for building a 5G-based private network for Chittagong port. Areas of technical cooperation required to provide services such as monitoring the overall security management of the port and smart access controlling will be identified under the MoU.

In addition, the feasibility of automating the port’s testing lab and operating vehicles and gantry cranes in a smart manner will also be examined.

Commenting on the occasion, Adil Hossain Noble said, ‘We are committed to providing Robi’s 5G-based services to various organisations in the country at the enterprise level. As part of this process, this agreement with Chittagong port is a milestone in our 5G progress. We are optimistic that our 5G smart solution will play a role in increasing the efficiency of the port authority.’

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Robi Axiata’s chief corporate and regulatory officer Shahed Alam; cluster market director Md Ashraful Kabir; Axentec’s chief commercial officer Abul Kalam Mohammad Nazmul Islam; and corporate business director Md Asaduzzaman.
