A tourist drowned at a haor of Nikli in Kishoreganj on Saturday while visiting the area with friends.
The deceased, Bananta Islam, 23, was son of Ashraful Islam of Thanthania Shahidnagar village in under Bogura Sadar in the district.
People of the area said that Bananta drowned around 1:30pm near Chhatirchar Karchaban while bathing with friends.
His body was later recovered.
Bananta鈥檚 cousin Alif said, 鈥楤ananta did not know how to swim. We were all walking in waist-deep water when suddenly we saw Bananta drowning. I tried to save him but failed.鈥�
Officer-in-charge of Nikli police station Kazi Arif Uddin confirmed the incident.
