The robotics and mechatronics engineering department of Dhaka University began a two-day Robotronics Fest at the DU Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Saturday.

The fest aims to encourage technological creativity and foster interest in robotics among students of various academic levels, said a press release.


Pro-vice-chancellor for education of the university Professor Mamun Ahmed inaugurated the fest as chief guest.

Mentioning that the world is changing rapidly with the evolution of technology, he said, ‘There is no way to stay behind in coping with the advancing world.’

He also urged the students to participate and involve in innovative work, maintaining humanitarian perspectives for positive change.

Presided over by robotics and mechatronics engineering department chairman Sejuti Rahman, DU dean of the faculty of engineering and technology Professor Upama Kabir spoke as special guest at the ceremony.

Nine hundred students in 200 groups from 50 institutions, including schools, colleges and universities, are participating in the fest.
